    • About us
  • The Team

Alphabetically, our key team members are:

    James Brockwell BSc MCIWEM CEM
    Principal Consultant & Director

From university, James joined the environmental services department of Royal Ordnance, then part of British Aerospace, which in time became BAE Systems Environmental & Property Services.  His early career encompassed all forms of site investigation techniques on large complex munitions sites.  With time he was increasingly involved in remediation and demolition works including several projects in Israel.

Away from work James enjoys a variety of sports including wake boarding, skiing, squash and mountain biking.  He is also a massive music fan and regularly attends gigs.

    Dan Brown
    Geo-Environmental Technician

Dan joined BRD as an experienced laboratory and field technician having worked for over seven years with national laboratory company Environmental Scientifics Group.  Dan is responsible for managing our stores of equipment and samples, undertaking a variety of monitoring tasks and assisting other team members with both site and office tasks.  Trained in 2014 in the control of invasive knotweed and has qualified as a herbicide sprayer to assist other team members during the busy knotweed growing season.

    Rob Davies BSc (Hons)
    Geo-Environmental Consultant

Rob joined BRD in 2010 upon graduating from university.  Initially he joined as a technician but he has since gained  enough experience to become a full consultant.  As well as becoming the company’s main AutoCAD technician, he now takes the lead in desk studies, site investigations and remediation inspections.

    Brian Devonshire BEng (Hons)  MSc
    Principal Consultant & Director

After a brief spell at Travers Morgan (now Capita Symonds) undertaking environmental desk studies in 1994, Brian moved onto Parkman (now Mouchel) to develop his site investigation and remediation skills.  This included dealing with a variety of sites in the then Black Country Development Corporation area and gas works sites nationwide notably including the first commercial application of soils washing in the UK.  After completing his part time masters degree, Brian moved to Royal Ordnance where he met James whilst working on a variety of remediation projects.

In 2000 Brian established BRD Environmental Ltd and successfully completed the first of many investigation and remediation contracts.  In 2009/2010 Brian took a partial break from BRD to work within a Groundwater and Contaminated Land Team at the Environment Agency.

In recent years mountain biking has taken over Brian’s life although he still finds time to enjoy a variety of activities with his family.

    Ian Hibberd BSc (Hons)
    Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant

Initially working as a technician, Ian joined BRD in 2005 and has progressed through the company to become a senior consultant.  He has a wealth of experience from numerous site investigations and remediation projects.  With a background in landscape gardening, it was natural for him to become the lead expert in the control of invasive knotweed and retains the ‘hands on’ approach being one of our qualified herbicide sprayers.

    Henrik Kuusanniemi-Abbotts BSc (Hons) FGS
    Geo-Environmental Consultant

Henrik joined BRD in 2014 as a graduate with office based experience with Halcrow (now C2HM Hill).  He initially undertook gas and groundwater monitoring alongside other Technicians.  With experience of helping other team members with investigation reports, he was promoted in 2016 to the role of consultant.

    Ana Leon EurGeol
    Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant

After gaining 5 years experience working as a senior geotechnical consultant in Spain, Ana joined BRD to gain experience of UK industry practices and geology.  Ana is already taking the lead with ground investigations, and undertakes geotechnical interpretation of sites for foundation design, soakage potential and other geotechnical issues.

    Matt Morgan BSc (Hons)
    Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant

Matt has been a long serving member of the BRD team, initially as performing the technician role during holiday breaks from his time at university.  From graduation, Matt took on increased responsibility for undertaking ground investigations and has concentrated on site specific human health and groundwater risk assessments.

Matt is a keen cyclist, and also enjoys playing squash and following Formula 1.

    Anthony Neyt MSc
    Geo-Environmental Technician / Consultant

For several years Anthony was an expat Geologist/Soil Engineer at Jan De Nul Group undertaking large‐scale dredging and reclamation projects around teh world.  In between these large‐scale projects, he returned to their head office to undertake desk studies and site investigations.

Anthony has joined BRD in a dual role undertaking both Technician and Consultant level work as he develops UK experience.

    Andrea Stratford

No organisation would be complete without somebody to take care of the ordering, payroll, answering the phone, invoicing, petty cash, and the hundreds of other tasks that are needed for the smooth running of a company.  Andrea took up this challenge 2010 and continues to bring fresh ideas to the running of the company.

    Matt Wood BSc (Hons)
    Geo-Environmental Consultant

Whilst a geology graduate, Matt originally joined BRD on a part time basis in order to gain experience in geo-environmental consultancy and contracting work.  Matt is now a full time member of the team taking a leading role in our ground investigations.  BRD are currently sponsoring Matt through a part time Master’s geotechnical degree course.

    And other team members

BRD also have a team of regular and trusted contract working consultants and partnerships with other similar companies so that further expertise is always available.  So no matter how big the project, BRD have the resources to deliver.
